Whitby Tate Hill - Dog friendly beach in Whitby, Yorkshire
Tate Hill is a small, sandy beach, sitting by the harbour wall, to the east of the River Esk.
It is backed by the fashionable Church Street, with its independent shops that lend great character to this part of the town.
Nearby, Henrietta Street is home to the world famous Fortunes Kippers.
Also hereabouts, you'll find the 199 steps that lead up to Whitby Abbey, from the end of Church Street.
This imposing ruin is reputedly where Dracula landed in the famous novel and this has made Whitby a favourite visitor destination for Goths.

Reviews
“Used to visit Whitby three or four times a year and loved to exercise my dogs on this beach now during May - October they have to be on a lead so alas I will no longer be visiting Whitby ”

“I live in Whitby and have two large dogs, between May and September Scarborough borough council have imposed an order that all dogs must be on leads on Tatehill sands. You will find it difficult to find anywhere to excercise your dog propoerly off their leads, or allowing them to socialise with other dogs. SBC Threaten to fine owners £75”
