Greystones is a charming late 17th Century Grade II listed house standing on the High Street right in the heart of the historic fishing village of Staithes. It was originally a village inn called the Golden Lion – and reputedly a hotbed of smuggling activity – now it is a spacious and characterful holiday get-away sleeping 9 people in 5 bedrooms where you can self cater in comfort and style.

We aim to provide all your holiday needs within the basic cost of your rental, there are no extra costs apart from a £20 charge for dogs and £5 per person for a bath and hand towel. Your holiday price includes all the heating and electricity costs, coal for the lounge fire (which you won’t need to use unless daytime temperatures are subzero), free use of the telephone to landlines after 6pm and at weekends and all bed linen.

The Area
Staying in the old part of Staithes is a special experience as the village has a unique character and an atmosphere special to itself. Step out onto the cobbled street and you are only 100 metres from the safe little beach and the harbour, passing two pubs, several cafes, a great art gallery and a range of useful and interesting small shops on the way! Opposite the house is a pathway between the tightly packed houses leading down to the beck where Staithes’ few remaining fishermen moor their colourful boats.

There is plenty of interest for the whole family in the village itself and the ever popular coastal town of Whitby is just 11 miles to the south, providing a wide range of things to see and do for all ages.

Staithes is set on the dramatic and beautiful North Yorkshire Heritage Coast and located in the North York Moors National Park – a little further afield you will find a wide range of places to visit and things to do including good beaches, stunning moorland walks, a steam railway, historic buildings and facilities for a host of different indoor and outdoor activities.
