Hazel Brow House - Dog Friendly Accommodation in Yorkshire Dales, Yorkshire
A warm Yorkshire welcome awaits – cosy fires, comfy beds with crisp white linen, fine dining in style, with well-equipped and modern facilities. The perfect place to relax and entertain with friends and family.
The House
The generously proportioned rooms have been furnished in a traditional style combining luxury and comfort. Fabrics and soft furnishings have been carefully chosen to reflect the period with many designs by William Morris including the famous ‘Strawberry Thief” and ‘Forest’.
Original features including shutters, service bells and ‘shouty holes’, high corniced ceilings, marble fireplaces, secret chambers and passages have been carefully preserved.
The kitchen, Pantry and Bootroom are modern and well-equipped with everything you’ll need during your stay. The bathrooms are modern with a twist of character in each.
Facilities
We want to be sure you have everything to hand when you visit so we provide the best equipment from an Aga cooker (plus a conventional oven and hob as backup) 3 fridges, a freezer, dishwasher and microwave.
Lovely soft towels and guest soaps are provided in the bedrooms and bathrooms.
Drying facilities are available in the spacious boot room and there’s even a wet room to shower off the outdoors you’ve collected on your leggings, boots and the dog!
Outside
Outside, the extensive and private garden has patios with outdoor seating and a barbeque. The lower lawn has an area where you can enjoy a game of croquet to ‘Hazel Brow Rules’! (croquet set provided). The steeply sloping lawns lead down to a private footpath to the River Swale where trout fishing is available in season.
There’s a large lockable garage suitable for a car and bikes (bike racks provided). We have off road parking for up to 5 further cars.
Dogs - We have a paddock below the house which allows guests' dogs freedom to roam securely around the grounds of the property.
Services
Whilst we welcome children, you will need to keep an eye on them as there are steep stair cases and stepped floor levels inside and terraced areas and steps outside. We can provide travel cots and high chairs on request.
A good Wi-Fi connection is available but mobile telephone signal is patchy. Contact us if you require a landline telephone service during your stay.
We welcome well behaved dogs and can provide a dog crate on request.
Don’t forget to ask about Alpaca walks – a novelty you’ll always remember and a chance for some great ‘selfies’ with your soon to be, favourite fluffy friends!
The Area
The Dales are a walker’s paradise but we’ve plenty more going on besides:- our lovely waterfalls and famous drives such as the Buttertubs Pass are a ‘must do’. 2014 saw the Tour de France visit us and its legacy remains with many challenging cycle routes in the area. Foodies will enjoy the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes, the Black Sheep Brewery and Cuckoo Hill ice cream parlour. White Rose candle makers and Bolton Castle are another must while you’re here. The more adventurous might want to organise a caving expedition down the ‘Fairies Hole’ at Crackpot, take the Alpacas out round the village or contact Sam at Alfresco Adventures for other great ideas.
