“Thanks to Jane at Oakwood for the lovely job she did on Bobby (long-haired dachund/chihuahua cross) yesterday. His coat, bib and trousers tend to get matted very quickly and because he is low-slung he picks up loads of mud and debris on walks. Thanks to Jane he looks glossy and beautiful again.”

“I have 7 dogs and all of them are groomed at oakwood all the girls are lovely, very patient & very professional. Two of my dogs are spanish water dogs, both very difficult to handle with very curly coats. I am always more than satisfied with their grooming skills. My other dogs are springer spaniels that never keep still, the girls always do a wonderful job. keep up the good work oakwood. see you soon x”

“I would definitely recommend oakwood. They did a brilliant job, my dog looked and smelled beautiful afterwards. I was a little worried and she can get quite shy but they were brilliant with her and after a few minutes I really think she started to enjoy herself! The staff were lovely and it had such a kind, friendly atmosphere. They also do a wonderful job in their rescue centre. Thanks oakwood! ”

“Did a great job on my very hairy St Bernard especially since we can't bath him ourselves as too big to lift into the bath when we took him last year, going to book him in again soon.”

“Dear jamie, I am sorry you feel unhappy with the service you received. I have spoken to both of the groomers who were working on Saturday and they have advised that when you brought your dog in they told you that she was matted on her legs and down one side of her body (she was matted to the skin) and that it would need to be clipped off short. They showed you an example and you explained you werent happy with this, but when a dog with a curly coat like a poodle gets matted down to the skin it is impossible to brush out without causing the dog considerable pain. Your husband suggested we should do what we needed to in order to make the dog comfortable and unfortunately that involved a full clip off. Unfortunately due to the severity of the matted coat we had no option but to clip the dog off fully, (had we just clipped off the matted sections your dog would have looked like we had hacked it) and you were advised of this at the point of drop off. When your husband collected the dog we again explained why we had had to clip the dog off and discussed when the dog would be next due. I appreciate you were not happy and it was not what you wanted but but if a dog is matted we have no option. We cannot always do what the owner wants if that is impossible. Again we did advise you of this at the point you dropped the dog off, we certainly didnt just go ahead and clip the dog, doing what we wanted as you suggest. When you called to complain again the groomers tried to explain why we had to clip the dog off and also tried to give you advise on the best brushes to use to ensure your dog doesnt get matted again resulting in further full clip offs. If you want to keep your dog fluffy you need to use a slicker brush backwards followed by a comb to get right down to the roots, this needs to be done every day and also dont bath your dog before you have brushed it and brush the coat whilst it is drying to ensure knots dont form. If you bath an unbrushed coat you will create knots and matts that cannot be removed except by clipping. Again my apologies that you were not happy but in this case I feel our groomers have done everything required by advising you at every step what needed to be done and why. We never groom a dog how we want always how the owner wants providing that is achieveable. If it isnt achievable we will always discuss as in your case. Kind Regards Gill”

“Please do not make the mistake I made this afternoon by taking your beloved dog to oakwood on county road for a cut/groom. I clearly instructed the groomer I wanted a trim for my cockapoo and cut out the few tuffs accumulating on her belly. The result they shaved her full body strangely leaving her tail untouchef and shaping her with a moustache. I am absolutely devastated!! And they refused to give my a refund after I made a complaint. The groomer ignored my instructions and cut my dog how she thought fit. Totally unacceptable , my cockapoo now looks like a ferret. ”
