Our Team of Volunteers
As well as our very own Trustees, volunteers have spent many hours refurbishing the kennels; painting and cleaning, to bring them up to the high standard that they are today. However, we still need more kennel space if we are to be able to provide a safe haven and the chance of a loving new home to the many dogs who are still waiting to come into rescue. We need to raise a significant amount of money to enable us to build new kennels.

Green Gap Kennels - Home of Forest Dog Rescue
Originally known as the Tanwood Stray Fund, Forest Dog Rescue began life over 40 years ago when a local vet wanted to give a chance to young and healthy dogs.

Over the years Tanwood has evolved into Forest Dog Rescue but without our own kennel facilities dogs had to board in private kennels, then in 2010, when thanks to a legacy from David Davies, coupled with a bank loan we purchased Green Gap kennels where dogs had previously boarded.

With continued support the site is evolving allowing us to take in dogs from private homes, strays from the dog warden and help other charities where we can. Owning our own kennels has enabled us to provide the highest quality of care for the dogs who are currently looking for their forever home.

We also have a number of small stables which have been converted into larger kennels for our long term dogs providing them with space and a warm and comfortable home as part of the Forest Dog Rescue family.

Every year we rehome over 250 dogs ensuring their safe future by vaccinating, neutering and providing veterinary treatment when needed. We carry out thorough home checks and provide every possible support to new owners allowing our dogs A Second Chance.
