Tredington Mill - Dog Friendly Cottage in Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire
Set in the pretty village of Tredington , near Stratford-upon-Avon, this 18th-century water mill is perfect for exploring the Cotswolds and Shakespeare Country.
Both Puddle Cottage and Pool View have been given a four-star rating by Visit England and are available for short or long self-catering holiday breaks. Both have river-front access, stunning views, and provide a marvellous stepping off point to explore the quiet glories of Warwickshire and the Cotswolds.
River Island at your doorstep
Set on its own island, this historic mill is in a spectacularly beautiful part of the River Stour. There's a weir, a weeping willow, and visiting wildlife that ranges from swans and kingfishers to a heron and the occasional otter. Tredington , a peaceful Warwickshire village surrounded by quiet countryside and Cotswold Hill walks is a conservation area and contains a mediaeval church filled with reminders of centuries of history, remarkable period architecture, and a children's playground.
The Cotswolds and Stratford
Tredington , nestling between Shakespeare's birthplace and many of the Cotswolds' most popular attractions, is a convenient base for exploring the towns and villages of this part of England which is famed for its beautiful landscape and pretty stone-walled villages, many of which have historic churches and pubs selling local beers. There are three local breweries.
The charming market town of Shipston-on-Stour is two miles away for restaurants, take-aways, pubs and supermarkets. There is also a bank, a post office, a chemist, a leisure centre, and a wide variety of small independent shops including delicatessens, a wine merchant, a fresh fish shop, butchers and bakers.
Puddle Cottage (Pets welcome)
In this peaceful retreat, French windows open onto a courtyard garden with a table and chairs – the perfect spot to catch the sun and enjoy an evening drink with an unspoilt view of the mill stream and its island, teeming with wildlife just a few feet away.
Centrally heated throughout, it retains many of the original features, including exposed beams. On the ground floor, there is a fully fitted kitchen, dining area seating four, and lounge space. The first floor has a double bedroom with a separate shower room/WC. On the top floor, there is a twin/double bedroom, with en-suite bathroom, and a shower over the bath.
Puddle Cottage is available for long and short stays. The changeover is on Fridays for weekly and weekend breaks. Mid-week breaks are Monday to Friday. Please do ask if you have any special dates that need accommodating. When possible we are happy to be flexible.
Pool View (no pets)
Pool View combines traditional charm with up-to-date comfort. It retains many original features – exposed beams, steep staircases, and large mill windows that offer exceptional views over the mill stream and surroundings.
Step into the garden, where you will find tables and chairs where you can relax next to the river or under the shade of a weeping willow. Keep an eye out for swans, kingfishers, herons, and, if you are very lucky, the occasional otter. Take a picnic or a glass of wine down to the weir or bring your fishing rod. Children love playing near the river but need to be supervised.
The comfortable centrally-heated accommodation is on two floors. The living room, fully fitted kitchen/diner and WC are on the first floor. Upstairs there are two bedrooms: one double and one twin/double. The family bathroom has an electric shower over the bath. In addition to everything you would expect of four-star accommodation, you will be welcomed with fruit and flowers.
