Caswell Bay - Dog Friendly Beach in Swansea
Although Caswell Bay is only accessible for dogs for 7 months of the year, it is well worth a visit at these times. There is easy, flataccess from the car park opposite (charge about £3), and even with a pushchair you can make it down onto firm sand along the boat ramp. When the tide is out the beach area extends dramatically and you can have a good walk around the corner, with rock pooling options if you have children as well. There is a gentle slope on the beach so even the smallest dogs can enjoy a paddle or a swim, and out of season you may well have the beach to yourself midweek, even on a sunny day. Check the tide times before you go if you particularly want to access the beach, as it can be a very small area at high tide.
You can access the coastal path to Langland (about 20mins) at the entrance to the beach, so you can still enjoy the bay from a high vantage point even in the summer, and if you want to, you can walk all the way round the coastto Mumbles (about an hour).
There are also a number of woodland pathwaysat the back of the beach car park where you will find garlic, anemones and bluebells in the late spring. Look out for the natural sculptures and the roundhouse about 400 yards in.
There are a range of eating options on the beach front, with baguettes, cakes and tea in the cafe, or sausage chips and ice cream from the stalls (usually only open during school holidays and weekends out of season).
