Onderneming
Or ‘Enterprise’ or ‘Undertaking’ in English, is an historic late-1800s sailing barge, which has undergone a sympathetic transformation into a modern, luxurious, floating, Dog-Friendly Holiday Cottage. Available for 2 or 3 night weekends, midweek breaks or longer holidays. Discounts for midweek breaks off-peak for couples and small groups.
Inside: Built in 1899, she is almost 100ft in length and 18ftwide! She sleeps 6 comfortably in three double bedrooms but also has a double sofa-bed in the lower saloon. No expense has been spared in this conversion, with really comfy beds and all the best bits of modern living. She still retains many original features such as her portholes and panelling inside, and her original wheel and colossal dagger boards on the outside. She has one en-suite wet-room and two additional bathrooms, including one with a bath.
There are two large saloons (lounge and dining areas to you and I), one of which is in the original wheelhouse with lots of seating. Both have fully fitted kitchens so that you can cook and chat in either! The wheelhouse saloon benefits from the beautiful river views and the lower saloon has a fabulous wood-burning stove for cosy evenings by the fire. You can also sit up on the deck with your morning coffee or watch the sun go down - it’s up to you.
Location: Onderneming is moored, so this is not a sailing holiday. She is static, but due to her size you will not really feel her moving.
She is moored on the River Alde at Snape Maltings, a stunning location near the beautiful Heritage Coast of Suffolk. Also nearby is an incredibly popular, well-known, dog-friendly pub, as well as coffee shops, independent boutique shops and amazing river walks.
Twee Gebroeders
Or ‘Two Brothers’ in English, is a 60ft fully restored Dutch Sailing Barge (a Skutsje) based on the iconic waterfront at The Tidemill in Woodbridge, Suffolk. Absolutely no expense has been spared in this renovation!
Inside: She offers comfortable self-catering accommodation for up to 4 people in 2 cabins; 1 double and 1 twin. There is a modern shower room, and an open saloon with a beautiful range cooker. Outside there’s a lovely open cockpit with teak seating to relax, unwind and enjoy the views of the river and The Tidemill. All of the bespoke cabinetry inside was hand-crafted by a local furniture maker. You'll also sees wonderful handmade tiles in the shower room in the Dutch Delft style, in keeping with her heritage.
Location: Twee Gebroeders is moored, so this is not a sailing holiday. She is static, but due to her size you will not really feel her moving.
Woodbridge is a little town with a big personality where you will find plenty to see and do.
The Waterfront and quayside is a colourful mix of vessels, from barges to sailing yachts, presided over by the town's iconic Tidemill. Step off Twee Gebroeders and you will find yourself in the impressive new Whisstocks leisure development built on the historic boatyard, with cafes and coffee shops a stone's throw away.
