Pilgrim Corner
Situated in one of the oldest, prettiest parts of Minehead, you’ll find this beautiful thatched cottage. Sleeping eight, it’s a large house with four comfortable en-suite bedrooms – all individually designed.
The impressive cream country kitchen is fully equipped with a butler's double sink, range-style cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and separate fridge, plus lots of storage.
For informal dining, there's a rustic wooden table and six chairs. You'll find a fridge-freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer in the small lobby off the kitchen. From the kitchen another door opens out into a boot room with a recycling point, cleaning cupboard, and yet more storage for coats and shoes.
Outside, the large garden is a doggy heaven set to lawns with shrubs, a terrace for alfresco dining and a superb hot tub to relax in. Pilgrim Corner is accredited with a Five-star rating with VisitEngland. Families, pets, and walkers are welcome.
The Oval
In the heart of the medieval village of Dunster is The Oval, our oldest cottage. Dating back to the 14th century, this cosy self-catering holiday home has original cruck beams, oak screening, a stunning four-poster bed, wood-burning stove, stone floors and many more fascinating features. It has also caught the attention of Channel 4’s Time Team, which has dendro-dated the cruck beams in the main bedroom to the winter of 1366.
The Oval is constructed of timbers some of which are more than 600 years old. Its name is nothing to do with cricket – it’s a corruption of the word ‘hovel’, used for any house in past times. It’s thrilling to explore and find marks on the wood panelling that were made by the carpenters so long ago, or sleep in the stately four-poster, just like Henry VIII.
The family friendly dining room leads out onto a private courtyard which is perfect for lazy mornings and alfresco lunches and there is a sun deck with views over Exmoor National Park. The Oval has a Four-star Gold rating with VisitEngland. Families, pets, and walkers are welcome.
The Old Sweet Shop
Located in the quietest and prettiest part of town, The Old Sweet Shop has undergone an extensive and sympathetic restoration to highlight its beautiful sweeping staircase, beams and large fireplace. Sleeping eight in four tastefully decorated rooms, each with its own bathroom, it has a comfortable sitting room, a large kitchen/diner with range cooker, a pretty garden with hot tub and on-site parking for two cars.
The Old Sweet Shop is a 17th-century thatched cottage, and our third luxury holiday home. Some of our neighbours remember buying strawberry sherbets, gobstoppers and ice creams here on the way to and from school. As with all our character properties, you’ll be staying in a truly historical cottage if you choose to holiday here.
The Old Sweet Shop has a Five-star rating with VisitEngland. Families, pets, and walkers are welcome.
Stone Barn
Stay in an architect-designed converted barn in the picturesque ‘Higher Town’ area of Minehead.
Nestled in the prettiest part of Minehead you will find Stone Barn. Designed specifically with the needs of our holiday guests in mind, this stylish modern barn conversion is a truly special destination for six guests and dogs..
We have retained much of the original fabric of this historical workshop, while meeting the needs of today’s guests. As well as the large beams, visitors will discover the original trapdoor and timbers repurposed throughout the property.
Outside, the pretty enclosed garden with hot tub, is set out with shrubs, old roses, fruit trees and offers superb views over Minehead Bay. Stone Barn is Five-star Gold rated with VisitEngland. Families, pets, and walkers are welcome.
