Bedrooms
If you are looking for a good quality and characterful hotel in Shropshire in which to explore this beautiful part of England, look no further. We have twelve lovely bedrooms, all en-suite, TV etc – all you’d expect in a four star inn recommended by The Good Hotel Guide. Modern facilities, contemporary design, and all suffused with that “away from it all” feeling.
Some bedrooms have lovely views of the town and the surrounding hills, and others look out over the fabulous hotel gardens. We have Double rooms, Master Rooms, Family rooms, Twin rooms Single rooms and a Cottage suite. The bedrooms are on the first or second floor and are reached from a fine Georgian staircase. The Cottage is just seconds from the front door and is available for accommodation only or with meals included, as you prefer. All rooms are non-smoking.
Food & Bar
If you want to eat out in Bishops Castle look no further – Shropshire has a long history of culinary excellence. Shrewsbury has a plethora of good restaurants, and Ludlow is just down the road, which for a time boasted more Michelin starred restaurants than London itself! We don’t do Michelin at The Castle, but we certainly use many of the same local suppliers. We’re spoilt for them actually. What we aim to produce is modern, good pub food that is healthy, hearty, flavoursome and fresh. And great value of course.
And you’ve a wide choice of places to eat at The Castle. Each of the three bars has its own individual character, some with open fires, some with terraces out into the garden. Or try our oak panelled restaurant, believed to feature in the Mary Webb novel “The House in Dormer Forest”.
And when the weather is warm, and remember it’s always sunny in Shropshire, our beautiful south facing gardens with fantastic terrace and raised fish ponds provide the perfect spot for a light repast and a cooling beverage.
