Treforest Veterinary Clinic
Treforest Veterinary Clinic was established by George Marshall in 1983 as a dedicated companion animal clinic, serving Pontypridd and the surrounding areas. The clinic – originally a charming chapel – is well located at the heart of the local community, overlooking the River Taff and the A470; this provides you with excellent transport links.When George Marshall retired in 2012, the clinic was taken over by his assistant of 26 years, Mike Priest, who was joined by Andrew O’Donnell. They continue to enthusiastically deliver an excellent standard of care to the pets of Pontypridd and the surrounding areas.
Since taking over Mike and Andrew have invested considerably in upgrading the facilities and in modern, state-of-the-art equipment. This means that we can provide a higher quality of accurate diagnosis and treatment. Our clinic is the first in the whole of Wales to provide the best quality of ultrasound with our new machine, the Toshiba Nemio.
The team at Treforest Veterinary Clinic hugely value the surrounding community, striving to be an environmentally responsible clinic. In 2013 we entered into the business category for recycling in the ‘Love where you Live’ awards. The award required the winner to improve the environmental sustainability of their business. Every effort was made to become an environmentally friendly business, and the hard work paid off when we won.

We offer a complete veterinary service
The practice provides a full range of services and our veterinary care is underpinned by the use of a full range of modern treatments. Since taking over in April 2012, Mike and Andrew have made significant investment in upgrading the core equipment of the practice to ensure that we offer both a complete veterinary service and that our equipment is modern and up to date. This helps us provide the best and safest veterinary care to your pet. Some of our services are detailed below:
Modern Digital XRay
The most recent acquisition is a a new digital X-Ray machine, allowing us to take much higher quality images which can be easily stored and transmitted. Images are taken much faster than before, allowing the time under anaesthetic to be minimised. When multiple perfectly positioned X-Rays are required; such as for pedigree and BVA scoring schemes, wastage is minimised helping us to lower the cost to you.
Modern Ultrasound
We are proud to be the first practice in Wales to take on the Toshiba Nemio Ultrasound system, which offers a scanning ability far superior to most general practices' ultrasound machines. With this machine we can scan inside the body allowing us to visualise different organs and check for damage. It is also used for routine pregnancy scans and for scanning the heart to determine if there are structural abnomalities.
New All in One Dental Equipment
Our dental equipment was upgraded significantly following the takeover by Mike and Andrew. Our new machine has an integrated pneumatic compressor driving all the equipment we may require during a dental procedure, from a high speed drill to polishers and medical suction. The handpieces are lit with LED lights to ensure the best visibility during any dental work.
