Lindisfarne - Dog Friendly Beach in Beal, Northumberland

Note from Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve:
Responsible dog owners are welcome on the reserve - this includes keeping dogs on a lead or at heel at all times (even on the beaches) to avoid disturbance to our birds and grazing livestock. It's one of our byelaws, which are there to protect the reserve.

The iconic Holy Island lies off the Northumberland coast and is part of a National Nature Reserve, Steeped in history, its monastery can be traced back to the 6th Century and there's also a 16th Century castle here.

Access is via a causeway that's covered at high tide.

There are two sandy beaches on the north shore, by Emmanuel Head, although most visitors follow the road to the Priory and castle on the landward south side of the island.
