Ilderton Dod Barns - Dog Friendly Accommodation in Northumberland National Park

Ilderton Dod Barns at The Dod are situated in Northumberland National Park, apparently built in the 1600s when life was lived at a slower pace. They’re a mile-and-a-half up a private farm track (accessible by car in all but extreme weather) but for those that require it, there is 4G mobile phone coverage!

The converted farm buildings are in the middle of an 1800-acre working hill farm so you may well see action involving tractors, sheep, cattle and working collies during your stay. Close by The Barns is the original farm house, a small cottage occupied by a local couple.

A warm welcome awaits you at either The Barn or Cuckoo Cottage, both of which we have lovingly brought back to life, previously having been stables and a cow byre.  Panoramic views abound, cosiness is guaranteed, wildlife is in abundance and peace prevails, apart from the cuckoo!  Once here, we hope that you won’t want to leave.

The properties have a large, shared garden with post and rail fencing, plenty of parking, unlimited logs, a shared lockable bike shed and their own barbecue and seating area.

The accommodation is surrounded by thousands of acres of access land and the number of walks is literally infinite, plus it's a great base for road- and mountain-biking, horse-riding (paddocks available), archaeology, birdwatching, star gazing, or visiting local castles and beaches.

The Barn (Sleeps 1-8)
Ground floor – 2 large shower rooms, kitchen, open plan living / dining area with TV.  
First floor – large sleeping area with a king-sized bed and sofa bed, then behind wooden doors, 2 singles beds and a sturdy bunk.
Wood burning stove plus background heating.
Washing machine and drying area.
DVD player, fridge freezer

Up to three dogs are permitted in the barn (downstairs only).

Cuckoo Cottage (sleeps 2+)
Ideal for couples or small families with a king-sized bed and space for a Z bed / cot on the first floor.
Ground floor – shower room, kitchen, open plan living and dining space with a wood-burning stove, sofa bed and TV.
Washing machine and drying area.
Dishwasher, fridge and freezer
Background heating throughout the building.

Two dogs are permitted in the cottage (downstairs only).
