Located only a stone's throw from the scenic North Norfolk coast, The Gin Trap is found in the heart of Ringstead, a charming village surrounded by the natural beauty of the English countryside. The pub itself has a characterful history welcoming all guests since 1668, be they locals, visitors, families with children and dogs.

Rooms
Our guest rooms are tastefully and beautifully designed, honouring the original charm and character of the coaching inn. Using a unique combination of rich colours, textures and patterns creates a tailored finish and sumptuous feel to each of our 13 rooms. You will find antique furnishings, fine textiles and an unmatched attention to detail along with the usual comforts of the perfect home from home stay.

Food
Our menus are driven by simplicity and detail. Head Chef Stuart Wyllie’s menus are driven by simplicity and detail, his talent is reflected in each dish, truly valuing the very best our local area has to offer. Stuart and his team mirror the hard work of our local suppliers in the craft and creativity used to create their innovative and memorable dishes.

Drink
We have carefully curated a collection of award winning bitters, lagers, ciders, spirits, all types and prices of wines and of course a 100 different gins!

Garden & play area
George Orwell, wrote in the Evening Standard in 1946 about his favourite pub, The Moon Under Water, ‘The great surprise of the Moon Under Water (The Gin Trap) is its garden. You go through a narrow passage leading out of the saloon, and find yourself in a fairly large garden with plane trees, under which there are little green tables with iron chairs round them. Up at one end of the garden there are swings and a chute for the children.

On summer evenings there are family parties, and you sit under the plane trees having beer or draught cider to the tune of delighted squeals from children going down the chute. The prams with the younger children are parked near the gate.

The centrepiece of the new Gin Trap garden is the children's play area and treehouse, the perfect thing to keep your little ones amused while you enjoy a refreshing drink and maintrain a watchful eye from one of the adjoining picnic areas!
