Reviews

“My daughter, sausage dog & I have just returned from an incredible week at Windy Gap. Margaret & Paul, who look after the place (and who live close by) could not have been more helpful & friendly. From the moment we booked, we could tell that they were special people who cared about their property and the people who visited it. I am an extremely particular traveller and like my holiday accommodation 'just so', but Windy Gap didn't disappoint. The beds were incredibly comfy, the sheets & towels beautifully laundered (linen service is something you pay extra for), the place spotlessly clean. Windy Gap has an old world charm about it, so don't go expecting modern furnishings - it is exactly what the photos show, a 100-year old shooting lodge. What we found particularly fabulous was being able to walk out of the front door each day and walk the dog without having to drive anywhere, as you're in the middle of Ainsdale Nature Reserve, with miles of pine forests & sand hills on your doorstep. I think we barely did anything else all week but pootle around the Nature Reserve, spotting rabbits, red squirrels, foxes, natterjack toads & even bats! The place is so quiet & peaceful, that we all slept for hours and felt like we'd been on holiday for months, not just a week. I can't recommend Windy Gap highly enough - though part of me doesn't want to recommend it as I selfishly want to keep it all for myself!!”
