Wellbeing Dogs - Dog Trainer in Leicester, Leicestershire
Liz Maitland, KCAI (AD) is a Kennel Club Accredited Instructor and has experience in training Assistance Dogs since 2009 to improve Wellbeing of the Owner and the dog. She worked 2004-2021 for the Charity RECOVERY Assistance Dogs as Executive Director and Senior Dog Trainer. Training Dogs as Assistance Dogs to help people recover from Mental Health problems.
Wellbeing Dogs spreads the word about how dogs & Owners need choice and control in their life to have Wellbeing. We train dogs with 100% positive methods using verbal and visual cues to enable the dog to choose to do a behaviour and be rewarded with praise and a treat. We believe that dogs have a mission to improve your wellbeing by learning to stay calm in challenging situations. We do this by learning the canine language of calming signals, doing 'Click to Calm' and the comforting 'touch procedure'.
Services
Puppy Foundation Socialisation Training
At Wellbeing Dogs we do a Puppy Foundation Course that will include all these 12 lessons and also
any of the problems that you are encountering with your puppy (like toileting or mouthing) will be
included too:
Responsibility and Care - Cleanliness and Identification
Attentive Response to Name - Play With The Puppy
Socialisation - Handling and Inspection
Puppy Recall - Basic Puppy Positions - Walking in a Controlled Manner
Stay for Approximately Ten Seconds - Take Article Away from the Puppy
Food - Manners
Avoiding Adolescent Anxiety
Many of the behaviours and activities we will do are fab for building a loving bond with your pooch. Just being, sitting still and doing nothing together is awesome as dog's have really peaceful still minds that we can learn from. Especially with a puppy or adolescent dog you will find it an essential part of your furever journey together. This training is about reassuring your puppy, adolescent dog or adult dog that they are essentially good. Eventually you will begin to convince them that they are a star and will become 'furperfect'.
Best Behaviour
Is your dog barking, lunging, pulling or even screaming towards other dogs on walks? Walks together should be a dream, not a nightmare. With this program, we will turn things around so that you can look forward to walking together with your best friend on a loose lead, rather than feeling like you're heading out to battle every time you want to exercise your dog (and yourself).
