Welcome to Briar Dawn Vets
Briar Dawn Veterinary Centre are an award winning veterinary practice set in the Pennine mill town of Shaw, near Oldham. Our mission is to provide a caring, friendly and highly professional approach where people and pets are treated with respect and consideration, and where owners are given the time that they need during an appointment to explain concerns and be involved in a discussion about options for treatment.
About Briar Dawn Vets
Briar Dawn Veterinary Centre, on Manchester Road in Shaw near Oldham opened in October 2004 on the site of an older veterinary surgery. The buildings have undergone a program of extensive investment and refurbishment. The practice has been modernised and new up to date equipment installed, including a new xray machine with digital processing enabling radiographs to be emailed to specialists and attached to clinical records for easy access, a powerful high resolution ultrasound machine, modern dental equipment including dental xray facilities with digital processing, and an extensive range of in-house laboratory equipment. From the open, friendly reception to the modern, well equipped operating theatre, the surgery is designed for the comfort and well-being of its patients and their owners.
Briar Dawn Vets are dedicated to companion animals and our eight experienced vets have particular interests in surgery, internal medicine, dentistry, skin disease, clinical pathology and rabbit health and husbandry. Briar Dawn’s modern facilities and well trained staff mean that most diagnostic testing and surgical procedures can be done on-site. Owners do not have to wait days/weeks for test results, but can have many results the same day. Fast diagnosis helps us to ensure that appropriate and effective treatment can be provided with minimal delay.
Care
Great care is taken to ensure that stress is minimised for animals being treated by providing separate kennels and cattery, a quiet area for cats to wait for their appointments away from dogs, and calming pheromones in the waiting room and consulting rooms for cats and dogs. We aim to keep waiting times to a minimum in order to reduce the stress of the waiting room. We also encourage our canine patients to pop in whenever they are passing so they can be given a pat and a treat by our staff, or have a wander around our lovely walled garden. Our puppy and kitten clinics also help our young patients to learn that the vets is not a scary place. In this way many of our patients associate a trip to the vets with a pleasant rather than stressful or frightening experience.
The Centre offers a remarkably high standard of care to animals, with the accent being as much on prevention as cure. We are passionate about good quality veterinary service and try to offer a full range of options to suit all expectations and budgets. We will explain different possible investigations, the results, possible treatment options and their outcomes, and the costs as we go along and give you choice in the treatment of your pet. The practice has been refurbished, is well equipped and offers a comprehensive range of pet healthcare clinics run by experienced, qualified veterinary nurses to help keep your pet as healthy as possible.
