The Mortimer Arms - Dog Friendly Accommodation in Ower, Hampshire.

Welcome to The Mortimer Arms, a family run Country Inn ideally located on the edge of the New Forest in Hampshire. Formally the Victorian home of a Dowager, it has been sympathetically extended and recently refurbished.

We offer you the perfect venue, albeit for a drink, lunchtime snack, dinner, party, conference or a short break.



Its central location is ideal for exploring the New Forest with its spectacular scenery and abundance of wild life where ponies, cattle, pigs and deer are free to roam. Nearby are the Cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester and the quaint market town of Romsey. The nearby shopping centre of Southampton, the market town of Lymington and the blue flag beaches of Bournemouth offer access to the world famous sailing waters of the Solent.

Our accommodation boasts 3 superior doubles, 8 standard doubles, 2 family suites and 1 twin room, all en-suite. Our two rooms on the ground floor are dog friendly rooms. We pride ourselves on the comfort and cleanliness of what we refer to as “slightly quirky accommodation”.

The building was originally a Dowager’s House and not purpose built as an Inn. Our stairs creak, as do some of our floors, the walls aren’t symmetrical and the sash windows might be a bit stiff. But this is part of its charm.

The recently refurbished “Country Bar” is suitably furnished with comfortable seating and the ambience is enhanced by numerous pictures and memorabilia, depicting country pursuits such as hunting, equestrian and fishing. The bar is exceptionally well stocked with a range of “Real Ales, Keg beers, Lagers, Fine Wines and Tasty Bar Snacks” as well as soft drinks and beverages. For a more private or intimate occasion, there is the “Snug” area just off the main bar.

For those who prefer “Al Fresco” dining there is a large patio area with plenty of bench seats and umbrellas to shade under. We welcome well behaved dogs and children.
