Juniper Cottage - Dog Friendly Accommodation in Uley, Gloucestershire
On the edge of a friendly village, the cottage enjoys wonderful views in a peaceful location - and unlike many other holiday cottages we positively welcome well trained dogs.
Converted to a high standard, with all facilities included, the cottage has been designed for muddy paws (tiled floors downstairs and a stair gate that can be closed). There's full gas central heating included in the cost. Television/DVD, board games, books and jigsaws for a rainy day. Comfy beds and a walk-in shower for relaxing aching limbs after long dog walks! A fully-fitted kitchen with breakfast area and a great little sun-trap for having meals outside.
Located at historic Sheppards Mill, you have the use of a 3 acre rural idyll with woodland, streams and even a small waterfall. (Please note that because of the streams, this cottage is not suitable for young children.) There are benches for sunning yourself while forgetting the pressures of life and admiring the views.
The cottage is away from roads, yet just a short walk from the village pub and community stores. There's a great village cafe with home made cakes just 100 yards away. Dogs are welcomed in the pub (one of our recent guests even took their two Great Danes!) and serves real ales and food. There are also lots of other dog-friendly pubs in nearby villages.
There are great walks straight from the cottage - no need to take the car: in fact there are six public footpaths that fan out from the Mill around the valley and woods. Indeed, the Uley valley is famous for its walks - featuring in many Guides. And from the top of the hills there are fantastic views across the Severn valley to Wales and the Malvern Hills.
Facilities
Juniper Cottage sleeps 4 in two bedrooms - one with a double bed and one with twin single beds - both have fantastic views across open countryside.
There is a large open plan living/dining room. The comfy seating includes a sofa and two armchairs.
Wi-fi and fast broadband is available at no extra cost.
A TV & DVD/CD player are provided (together with a small selection of films). But many guests like to switch off from the bustle of the outside world, preferring to dip into one of the books that are in the Cottage. We also provide jigsaws, cards and some board games.
A fitted kitchen includes dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and freezer alongside the normal cooker, fridge etc. There is a small breakfast table in the kitchen.
We provide bedding and towels, including an extra-large bath sheet for each person. All beds are made up prior to your visit.
There is a fully modernised shower-room with the normal facilities.
Outside there is a small, fenced courtyard / garden, which provides a private seating area for having breakfast listening to the birds or dinner al-fresco on a summer's evening, enjoying a glass of wine. Quite a suntrap - and looks straight out onto open fields.
The whole cottage benefits from gas-fired central heating.
Overall, our aim is to provide a cosy, peaceful retreat from the cares of life.
