  • This dog walk is about 3.75 miles
  • Really popular with dog walkers

This is a great walk starting off at Mile Oak Farm using the track to meander amongst fields before heading up on the South Downs Way towards Southwick Hill. It's usually possible to park at the farm or on Mile Oak Road before you reach the farm.

On it's own the walk is about 3.75 miles, but once you get onto Southwick Hill there's plenty of space to explore if you want to extend the walk. The route up on to the hill is quite steep, but not too long and once you get onto the hill it's fairly easy going. Southwick Hill is really popular with dog walkers, so you get the best of both worlds - a bit of seclusion followed by play time on the hill, with the potential to get rather muddy!

“Not the prettiest of farms ( they do a nice cuppa and bacon sarnie ) and there are indeed pylons but just stroll through the farm and take the pathway heading up the hill and you will be rewarded with great views of the surrounding hills on one hand and the sea on the other. Very popular with dog walkers with long open stretches and tangled shrubs / woody bits. Occasionally there are animals on the hill( it’s a working farm ) so if your dog likes to chase things take a lead, we have been coming up here for years and very rarely bump into “the residents “ !”

“Very disappointed with this walk. The approach is grim through a housing estate and the farm itself is surrounded by pylons. It has a feeling of being uncared for. The walk itself is bordered by fields with sheep and cows. Ok for the well behaved dog as one of ours is but very risky for naughty young collies as our other dog is. The last straw was when we entered one field and were warned shooting was taking place. No thanks. Neither dogs or humans enjoyed this walk.”
