Our beautifully restored 18th century former coaching inn is situated within the Saxon Walled town of Wareham, making it an ideal location to explore Dorset and The Isle of Purbeck.

With boutique bedrooms, stylish food and a welcoming bar, The Bear offers an idyllic setting for all occasions, from a morning coffee and cake to an evening cocktail and nibbles and from a fabulous  lunch to a revitalising night’s stay.

Stay
Our beautiful bedrooms are all individually designed and each one is as unique as the famous bears we’ve named them after. With super comfy beds, powerful rainfall showers and original features, each marries modern comfort with heritage charm, ensuring you awaken full refreshed, ready to enjoy the choices of cooked breakfasts included in our rates.

Eat
We are proud to serve great food made with passion using the finest local produce. Our menus change with the seasons and whether ingredients are grown, reared or laid, our creative chefs have paired with farmers, fishermen and suppliers to ensure food is fresh, free range, exciting and sure to make you smile.

Drink
The hub of The Bear, our bar is a homely hangout with a warm welcome– a place to celebrate, recuperate or just be. We serve a selection of ales, ciders & handpicked wines, which pair beautifully our dinner menu. Or why not try one of our expertly fashioned cocktails.

Goldilocks
Goldilocks is the perfect den for one, two or even three bears looking to stay somewhere quiet and calming close to both town and country. Goldilocks has an impressive handmade wooden headboard and lots of rustic charm, with the optional futon bed making it an ideal family room.

Paddington
We echo Paddington Bear's Peruvian homeland in our bold use of colour in this room, with deep blue walls paired with a striking mustard headboard. Paddington has gorgeous high ceilings and a seating area framed inside the big Georgian window overlooking the town. A futon bed for a child can be made available on request, making Paddington an ideal space for families.

Yogi
Yogi is a cosy room with a king size bed and rustic wooden headboard. It is the ideal base for a break exploring the coast and countryside around the town, as well as enjoying an evening in our beautiful bar and restaurant.
