The Seaside Boarding House

The Seaside Boarding House - Dog Friendly Hotel in Burton Bradstock, Dorset

Celebrated and distinct hotel, restaurant and bar nestled on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, overlooking the sweep of Lyme Bay in the beautiful and unspoilt county of Dorset.

Less than three hours from London or the Midlands, it’s a place to relax and recharge by the sea. From the creators of London’s internationally renowned Groucho Club comes an antidote to city life. The perfect getaway, holiday or just a (very) long lunch destination.

Bedrooms
Your bedroom should be a refuge from the world. It should be a camp, a den, a fortress and a sanctuary of comfort and calm. The heart of the bedroom should be a magnificent bed. A bed that calls like a siren, enfolds and nestles you. A bed that then delivers you back in the morning feeling rested and ready to take on the day.

Each of our nine bedrooms is within sight and sound of the sea, whether looking straight out across the water or along the cliff tops to Golden Cap or the isle of Portland. Lovely bathrooms, some with a shower, some with a large claw-footed bath.

Restaurant
It’s not complicated, fresh seafood from the sea at our toes, great produce from the countryside at our backs. Local when it’s best, British when it’s right, international when it’s called for. Naturally seasonal and with no fleeting fads or fickle food fashions – whether you need a poached egg on toast or a six-course banquet, our acclaimed restaurant is bespoke and classically modern.

We like a well-dressed table, but we don’t stand on any ceremony; if you want one course, three puddings, to work your way through the whole menu alphabetically or topographically that’s fine. Our view is that dinner takes as long as you need it to.

Bar
A great bar should reflect the mood of each patron. From exciting to intimate, gregarious, peaceful or entertaining – as long as it’s just right. Drinks must be generous and far-reaching; from a cocktail to a nightcap, a local beer to a glass of fine Champagne, a proper bar understands your individual needs.

No need for a ‘mixologist’, just attentive and skilled bar staff that can muddle, shake, strain, stir or simply pour the drink you want, when you want. Add to that our interesting, but not bewildering or pompous, wine list and you have the perfect bar.

Open from first thing in the morning for a cup of coffee to last thing at night.

Furry Friends
Well-behaved dogs are very welcome at The Seaside Boarding House – on the terrace, in the bar, they can stay in some of the bedrooms. We only charge an extra pet cleaning fee if owners have been inconsiderate.

There are many dog-friendly beaches along our coast.
