Our beachside location, combined with a dog-loving team, makes a perfect pooch paradise. With days of endless zoomies, woodland walks and frisbee fetch, your dog can fully rest and recharge at the end of the day with the smell of the sea offering a tantalising taste of tomorrow's adventures.

Being a dog-friendly hotel is what sees guests and their furry friends return to South Sands time and time again. We have many dog-friendly rooms available in our Optimist, Enterprise, Yawl and Dragon categories as well as in 4 of our 5 Beach Suites. To ensure there's plenty of space for all, we allow a maximum of 2 dogs in inland and partial sea view rooms and 3 dogs in our full sea view rooms and Beach Suites.

On the Beach
Please note South Sands beach is only dog-friendly from October until May. During the other months, restrictions apply.

For the Summer months, take a trip to neighbouring North Sands that welcomes dogs all year round. Other dog-friendly beaches in the area include East Portlemouth beaches on the other side of the estuary, Soar Mill Cove, South Milton Sands and Slapton Sands.

There are plenty of scenic coastal and woodland walks for your dog-walking adventures too.

Our Dog Friendly Rooms are:

Optimist: Room 23
Enterprise: Room 5, 14, 15, 16
Yawl: Room 12
Dragon: Rooms 7, 11, 17 & 21
Beach Suites: 31, 32, 34, 35

To protect the bed linen from potential sandy paws and muddy bellies, we ask dogs to remain off bed linen and other soft furnishings. A charge of £19.50 per dog, per night will be applied for dogs staying in hotel rooms or beach suites.

Guests at check-in will be asked to sign the “South Sands Dog Policy” document.
A penalty of £150 will be charged if your dog is let on bed linen or in the event of a dog fouling in the room.
Dogs are welcome in all public areas on a lead.

Restaurant Offering
We have a varied restaurant offering, a substantial breakfast buffet with cooked breakfast (included with room booking), lunch, cream teas and dinner.
Dogs are allowed in bar, terrace and in the dog friendly section of the restaurant.
