Touring & Camping
Experience our spacious grounds on your next touring and camping holiday in North Devon. Our campsite is in the heart of this beautiful area, based in the grounds of the old manor house and surrounded with space and fresh air. At smytham we have three touring areas the Walled Garden for camping, The Terraces and The Orchard.
The Walled Garden
The Walled Garden consists of 13 pitches suitable for small tents wanting a standard pitch. The old walled garden is great, with sheltered level pitches and located close to the pool. We also have a small covered kitchen area here for those campers that arrive on foot or by bike (ask about our special lower rates if you’re arriving via the Tarka Trail!). All pitched in the walled garden have 16 amp electric hookups.
The Terraces
On the other side of our driveway we have the original terraced area which is particularly good for caravanners, with standard hardstandings and grass, all pitches are level with 16 amp electric hookups.
The Orchard
Created in 2017 boast a variety of pitches. including large standard and serviced pitches. For those of us that enjoy the luxuries in life we even have en-suite pitches. These pitches have their own washroom and toilet in a timber clad cabin. Due to the popluarity of these we are adding two more for the 2018 season. Please see below for descriptions on all of our pitches.
Standard Pitch
This is available as either grass, hardstanding or All weather (AWP ). On the existing touring and camping area these pitches are 10 x 10 metres and all have electric hook-ups. In The Orchard these pitches will increase in size to 15 x 12 metres and will have a TV point as well and a 16 amp electric hook-up.
Posh Pitch
Our Posh Pitches offer a little extra comfort during your stay available in grass or hardstanding. Not only do you have 16 amp electric, TV and water, These pitches offer grey water disposal points and a picnic bench.
En-suite Pitch
This pitch is the most luxurious pitch available. Smtham is the only holiday park in Devon to offer these campplus units. Make your stay more civilized with this pitch as it provides your very own private shower, toilet, sink and washing up area in a cedar clad cabin on your pitch. You are also provided with 16 amp electric, TV point, water tap, grey water disposal and a picnic bench. The en-suite pitches are available as an all weather pitch or hardstanding.
Once you have set up on your pitch, there is plenty to keep you busy. Bring your bikes to ride around the park or along the Tarka Trail, swim in our outdoor solar heated pool, and if you forget your football or cricket kit then get them from the shop in reception and let the games begin. There are also a great many attractions in the area for you to enjoy from shopping to walking, and arts and crafts to theme parks.
In the evening you can bring a barbecue to use, just take care with it please. To relax and meet new people, pop over to our bar (opening hours vary during the year) where you can sit out and enjoy the sunset on the veranda.
