Score Valley Country House offers the personal service of a guest house with the tranquillity, space and comfort of a Georgian Manor House.  It is set in one and a half acres of quiet and peaceful woodland and is the home of your hosts, married couple, Donna and Paul.

This splendid 18th century residence holds pride of place with commanding views over this secluded unspoiled valley, which has hardly changed over the years. The narrow lane leading to the circular drive ensures that the front of Score Valley Country House has remained one of Ilfracombe’s best kept secrets.

With ample parking for all our guests we believe we can offer you a peaceful undisturbed holiday or short break and a perfect base from which to explore the wonders of Exmoor or North Devon’s finest sandy beaches at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands.

We have eight bedrooms which have been individually furnished, retaining many of the period features including some of the original fireplaces .  All the double rooms have either king size or super king size beds , five of these rooms can be made up with twin beds (please check availability on booking).

There is one spacious single room for solo travellers which offers a small double bed for added comfort.  All bedrooms are fully en-suite, except one which has private facilities, and are equipped with generous hospitality trays, towels and toiletries, hairdryers, colour free satellite television, shaver points and heated towel rails. Free wifi is available in all of the rooms.

Every day begins with a hearty breakfast which is freshly cooked to order by Paul, using local handmade sausages, thick cut bacon, free range eggs and a good choice of cereals, fresh fruit and yogurt. There are vegetarian options available. The breakfast room leads to our sun terrace, which overlooks the babbling East Wilder Brook, from where you can relax with your morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening.

Score Valley is our home and we love where we live and take huge pleasure enabling our guests to enjoy it too. We take pride in the friendly, relaxed, warm and homely atmosphere that we have developed here. Helped along by our fully licensed and well stocked honesty bar.

Although we appear to be in the middle of the countryside it is only a pleasant twenty minute walk from the hotel to Ilfracombe with its beautiful working harbour, shops, restaurants, Tunnels Beach and other attractions. Donna is Ilfracombe “born and bred” so can answer any questions you might have about the local area.
