Fingals is magical, a jumble of a place in a hidden valley in one of the loveliest parts of south Devon close to the River Dart estuary and the coast.  It is run with charm, humour and a dash of idiosyncrasy by Richard and Sheila.

A collection of six self-catering cottages in Devon, set in a rolling green valley, down narrow Devon country lanes.  Fingals is hemmed in by high hedgerows and a world away from real life … just as you have given up chanting "nil desperandum" a cheery green sign informs you that you have indeed reached the land of Fingals! All dogs welcome of all shapes and sizes.

The Barn (sleeps 6)
With its high green oak trusses, well-snuggled sofas and timeworn vintage rugs, The Barn at Fingals is the perfect home from home for any group of friends or family. It has floor to ceiling windows that overlook beautiful gardens allowing natural light to flood in, creating a space that feels roomy, warm and rustic.

The holiday home benefits from a large open plan kitchen-diner & lounge area, allowing you to cook, eat, drink and relax together. It also has a covered balcony, so alfresco dining can be on the cards come rain or shine.

The Folly (sleeps 2)
Our fantastic Folly holds a prime spot at Fingals, overlooking the seasonal grass tennis court and rolling Devon countryside beyond. From the Buddha in the hallway to the array of sailing boats on the upstairs beams, this space oozes character.

Designed by architect and artist Andras Kaldor, this unique holiday home offers guests a tranquil getaway right in the heart of the beautiful South Hams. Cosy up by the wood burner, kickback on the comfy sofas with a good book or while away the afternoon sitting on the dock alongside the babbling brook.

Wisteria Suite (sleeps 4)
With views out to the beautiful Fingals gardens, treasured tennis court and Devon valleys beyond, Wisteria Suite is a delightful and quintessentially English getaway. Situated on the first floor and arranged all on one level, the outside of this charming property is adorned each Spring with the cascading purple blossoms of Wisteria.

Come Summer, it bursts to life with kiwi fruit and passion flowers, making the private covered balcony a truly magical space. Let the outdoors in by dining alfresco, enjoy a glass of wine in the evening sun or kick back with a good book.

Lower Mill House (sleeps 6)
This property is a historical hidden gem. Sitting just behind the Manor House which is mentioned in the Domesday Book, The Lower Mill House offers an unforgettable experience staying in a 19th Century mill house. Now lovingly restored to a self-catering holiday home for six, the cottage still has the original workings and mine shaft for milling flour in the cellar.

Cook up a feast in the rustic kitchen or pass the time with a jigsaw puzzle in this home-away-from-home. History lovers will also spot clues to its former use in the quaint courtyard, site of the old leat & mill wheel and the perfect place for BBQs, as well as the large stone-arched living room that once formed the old mill’s loading bay.

Barberry Brook (sleeps 2)
Perched alongside the babbling brook that gives this stunning holiday home its name, Barberry Brook is a peace-seekers dream. Set over two floors and flooded with natural light, this atmospheric little house offers modern luxury with a generous dose of timeless nature.

Treat yourself to a lie-in in the sumptuous king-size bed, whilst you listen to the gentle trickling of the stream and soft cooing of doves nearby. Or take a long luxurious soak in the unique open plan bathtub, complete with its own stream view.

The Manor Farmhouse (sleeps 12)

New to 2023 we would like to introduce you to The Manor Farmhouse at Fingals a luxury holiday home in Devon. A lovely big, comfy old farmhouse with loads of space surrounded by a mature garden, perfect for family and friends holidays.

There’s a calm vibe here with plenty of room for everyone, old sash windows through which light gushes in, cozy bedrooms with sumptuous beds, feather pillows, thick fabrics, lovely linen, extra comfy mattresses, large squishy sofas and bathrooms galore. The farmhouse, built 1800s (although there was a building on the site in 1066!), sleeps twelve and has a charming country house style with a glorious mix of textures and a lot of family memorabilia; ideal for families/big groups.
