“IF no animals in fields , dog can be off lead. Wet underfoot in car park and fields but good dry road to walk on, through to ruin. Fantastic old park trees covered in mosses. Beautiful streams and big river and pond at bottom. Dragonflies in October! Lovely place, serene and quiet. Donation box in car park. Best approach is from Brandis Corner, towards Cookbury road, it will be on left, look for huge old pillar gate posts.”

“Also near Cookbury is the Forestry plantation, this has parking for three cars , is a very dry stone track with some view, which is level for 500 yards then gentle slope down. This is Not a circular walk. It goes down to river at right fork of track. The trees are big conifers and some deciduous, and the trees are dark underneath which can be spooky. Horses allowed with permit. Access is single track roads, so take care driving there.”

“Disappointed dogs to be kept on leads and no signage to show you where to go”
