Mill End - Dog Friendly Hotel in Chagford, Devon
A Dartmoor hotel on the banks of Devon’s majestic River Teign, Mill End Hotel and Restaurant is your perfect Country House hideaway. Escape to Dartmoor. Immerse yourself in the wild glory of Devon’s own Dartmoor National Park, whilst soaking up the hospitality, comfort and warmth on which we pride ourselves here at Mill End.
We have twenty individually-styled bedrooms, comfy lounges, log fires and beautiful riverside gardens. Book your hotel room on-line or call to choose your perfect room.
Our hotel restaurant, with 2 Rosettes from the AA, is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (and non-residents are very welcome too).
Dartmoor is all around. Walking, cycling, fishing and all manner of outdoor pursuits are yours to enjoy. Or just find a perfect spot to sit and soak up the Dartmoor view. Just five minutes from the A30, and 25 minutes from Exeter, we’re easy to get to but a million miles away. Devon’s coasts are a short drive away.
After a day on the moors, you’ll find a warm welcome back at Mill End. Let the pressures of the outside world fade to a distant memory as you enjoy a delicious meal in our restaurant, or simply relax in front of an open fire.
Our hotel is your Dartmoor country house hideaway.
Dog Friendly
Are we dog-friendly? We certainly are, though we are never over-run with dogs, so don’t worry if you’re not a dog-owner! We also ensure some of our rooms are never occupied by guests with dogs, in case of allergies.
But your canine companion is always very welcome here at Mill End – in fact we think this is the perfect place to bring your dog to enjoy some of the splendid walks we have on our doorstep. Dogs are charged at £12 per night each.
You’ll find a side entrance to the hotel which leads straight into the boot room. This is the ideal place to bring your dog if they have returned from a walk with wet, muddy paws. There is a basket of dog towels – please use as many as you like and leave them on the floor (they go in a separate laundry to your towels!).
You and your dog will be sure to enjoy a wander round our riverside gardens, but for some really great walking just take a stroll across the bridge and then follow the riverbank either downstream to pretty Fingle Bridge, or upstream to the village of Chagford.
Responsible dog owners are always aware of this, but it is worth mentioning the need for prudence with livestock on the moors, particularly the lambs in springtime. Plus ponies on the moor can give a nasty kick if provoked! Your dog is welcome to join you anywhere in the hotel – including our comfy lounges – with the exception of the restaurant for obvious reasons.
