Fancy a day out in semi rural New Mills? People are very friendly here and its is very dog friendly place to walk your dogs, with nature reserves, lots of footpaths, parks, woodland in abundance, plus the canal tow path, which can lead you to Marple one way and to Buxworth in the other direction.

Whether your cycling, dog walking or horse riding, a hidden gem in New Mills High Peak is the Sett Valley trail.

The Trail connects with New Mills Torrs and that connects with the Millenium Walkway and the Torrs Riverside Park.

2.5 miles of what was a disused railway line in between New Mills Central and the village of Hayfield which closed in 1970, which has some lovely scenery on the way to Hayfield.

Points of interest along the trail.

Blue Bell Woods near Hayfield.

Paths leading off the trail after Birchvale which lead up to Lantern Pike and Rowarth.
Scenic and easy going on foot, passing through Thornsett, Birchvale and then to the beautiful village of Hayfield.
