Monks Retreat - Dog Friendly Cottages in Miller's Dale, Derbyshire

Our guests tell us we have the best location for country cottage holidays in the Peak District, and we think you will agree. The monks of old chose to build a monastery here, although they are long gone, the dales remain much the same and will inspire you. Abbots Abode sleeps 6, Friars Folly sleeps 4, Monks Memories sleeps 2.

Sitting on a south facing hillside where Monks Dale meets Millers Dale, a conservation area of outstanding natural beauty, our lovingly restored old oak beamed limestone cottages have extensive views across the dales to towering rocks and peaceful fields and hills.

A 300 yard stroll down a leafy lane brings you to our local, the Anglers Rest pub nestling by the beautiful river. You can sit here with a pint or a glass of wine and a good meal and watch the trout jumping and water fowl play in the perfect setting.

Tideswell with its many hidden alleyways, cafes, traditional shops and magnificent ‘Cathedral of the Peak’ is just 2 miles away.

Abbot's Abode
Abbots Abode sleeps six and is in an elevated farm location. This lovingly restored limestone cottage retains it’s original old oak beams and trusses and is a spacious haven of peace and rustic charm.

The comfortable lounge has sofas, flat screen TV & Wi-Fi. Up three steps is the large fitted kitchen with dishwasher, fridge-freezer, full-size electric cooker, microwave and all the catering utensils you will need. The kitchen is completed with a large farmhouse table for six. Upstairs are the double bedroom, and the family room with two single beds and two more single beds on the gallery above, accessed by a short ladder (kids love it up here).

The bathroom has a bath with a shower over etc. Outside is a large lawn with garden furniture.

Friar’s Folly
Friars Folly sleeps 4 and stands in an elevated farm location. This lovingly restored limestone cottage retains it’s original old oak beams and trusses and is a spacious haven of peace and rustic charm.

The large comfortable lounge has sofas, flat screen TV and Wi-Fi.

A fitted kitchen with fridge, full size electric cooker, microwave and all the catering utensils you will need. The kitchen is completed with a table for four.

Upstairs are the double bedroom, with a King-sized bed and the twin bedroom. The bathroom has bath with power shower over etc.

Central heating throughout. Outside is a lawn and garden furniture.

Monk’s Memories
Monks Memories sleeps 2 and is in an elevated farm location. This lovingly restored limestone cottage has original old beams and is a spacious haven of peace and rustic charm.

This cottage is all ground floor so may be suitable for the less able. The comfortable lounge has a sofa and easy chair, dining table and chairs + flat screen TV & Wi-Fi.

A fitted kitchen has fridge, full size electric cooker, microwave and all the catering utensils you will need. The bedroom has king size bed, en-suite bathroom including bath with shower over.

Central heating throughout. Outside is a lawn with garden furniture.
