Hartington Hills - Dog Friendly Touring Park with Cottages & Glamping Yurt
in Peak District National Park, Derbyshire
Our ethos is nature-based and we encourage biodiversity in our fields and hedgerows with the majority of our energy provided through sustainable practices. We have been awarded the coveted Environmental Quality Mark award, which demonstrates Hartington Hills ongoing commitment to the environment, to our staff and to supporting the local economy.
The site and our facilities are accessible to all and is located in the centre of Buxton, Bakewell, Ashbourne and Leek - in a rural situation - where peace and tranquillity is assured. The toilet/shower block is underfloor heated and, to this day, has been likened to a 5* hotel. It features a generous wet room, which offers easy access for wheelchair users and for those with limited mobility. We also allow families with small children to use this.
The Yurt
Gaia’s Hideaway is approached from a path at the South-East corner of Hartington Hills Caravan and Camping site leading down to a secluded corner surrounded by trees, natural hedgerows and with open views to the Peak District hills.
This truly is a magical little hideaway. When you open the door of your Yurt in the morning you will see the sun rise and you can’t help but hear the prolific birdsong. Peace and tranquillity is guaranteed.
The South-East aspect means that you will have shade in some places and sunshine all day long on the decking area so sun-bathing is definitely on the menu.
On the generous decking area there is a covered area housing a large gas barbecue for alfresco dining.
For the ultimate experience there is a luxury Hydropool hot-tub for you to enjoy a truly sumptuous and peaceful stay amidst the trees, natural hedges and wildlife.
Cottage
Cosy up next to the log burner or pamper yourself in the luxury Hydropool hot tub under the stars. This fabulous, cosy barn conversion is compact, bijou and perfect as a romantic retreat for two. Gaia Lodge, a former piggery, nestles in an elevated position on the Derbyshire and Staffordshire border which falls within the southern area of the Peak District National Park.
Gaia Lodge boasts panoramic views of the undulating countryside, dotted with natural hedgerows and dry stone walls; so characteristic of the Derbyshire Dales. It can be found 165 yards away from the family run caravan and camping site of Hartington Hills, which has been awarded the coveted Environmental Quality Mark award.
Dogs
Dogs are very welcome and we have a purpose-designed 2-acre dog walk which includes a Labyrinth mown into the meadow. There are also many suitable dog walks from the site. We have a huge playing field for the children to have a good run around. We have four mini-Shetland ponies and 11 free-range hens – eggs are available to purchase.
