Dog friendly Buxworth is a lovely place for dog walking, especially Bugsworth Basin a terminus for the Peak Forest canal. Even the slight noise of Bypass does not ruin the tranquility of this dog friendly place. Grassy banks, locks, and even a dog friendly pub the Navigation Inn. In the summer we often, enjoy walks to Buxworth from Whaley Bridge with our dog Scrappy, stop and have a pint outside on a nice day and walk home again.

From the basin, you can get onto the Peak Forest Tramway and walk as far as Charley Lane cut through road from Chinley. From there there as lovely walks over to Wash and up to Brown Knoll.

Or from the basin you can follow the tow path to Whaley Bridge or Furness Vale and New Mills.

For dog walking Chinley is great there is Chinley Churn accessed from Maynestone Road, there is a path on the left right at the start of the road, takes you through some fields and up to Chinley Churn, for dog walking take care especially through the old quarry towards Big Stone there can be a lot of sheep up there.

Other dog friendly walks are the Peak Forest Tramway and Chinley has a small nature reserve at the very top of Stubbins Lane. Also at the top of Stubbins lane is a walk up to Overhill Road ( a bridal way) which leads all the way to New Mills at the top of Laneside Road.
