Rhug Estate Organic Farm is very pro-dog! It all starts with Truffles, Lord Newborough's chocolate labrador who even has her own organic raw dog food brand, sold exclusively in the Rhug Farm Shop.
Rhug is situated on the A5, a short distance from Llangollen and the popular Snowdonia National Park.
The Estate area open to the public consists of a large farm shop, stocking as many local Welsh products as possible; the Bison Grill bistro open from 8am - 5pm; and the On-The-Hoof Takeaway with outdoor seating (including a covered area for colder days).
Dogs are welcome in the bistro and in the takeaway area at any time, as long as they are kept on a lead. There are even 'dog parking stations' by the outdoor picnic benches, to allow you to enjoy your coffee and bison burger hands-free, with water bowls nearby for your pooch. Dog treats are available from the takeaway hatch, too. For those with families, the takeaway area is situated right next to a children's play area, so that you can relax with a spot of lunch and watch your children play at the same time.
From Summer 2018, a drive-through will also be available for those who haven't as much time to stop for a coffee or burger.
A farm walk route is available, taking either half an hour or an hour depending on which route you choose. By Summer 2018, this farm walk will be extended to three routes and include more information boards to create an interactive and educational walk around part of the farm estate.
The Rhug Estate is known for its 100% organic produce, including the only Welsh organic Lamb with PGI status. The farm is also renowned for its famous bison herd, and more recently the introduction of a Sika deer herd to supply venison in the future. These animals may be seen on the farm walk (although not guaranteed as they may move fields).
