Lovely village with dog friendly pub

A fascinating 5-10km walk on Askham fell, home to many intriguing ancient sites from stone circles to burial cairns and a herd of wild ponies too! A spooky theme on open moorland! The walk is on open fell and bridleways so there is lots of room for your 4 legged friend to run around. The views of Ullswater lake are amazing.

There are often sheep grazing so take care with your dog off the lead. You can park in Askham village and then head up the hill. The walk takes about 2 hours but can be shorter if you just go to the summit of Heughscar hill which is the best viewpoint. Start and finish in Askham village or Roe head near Pooley bridge.
