The Dog House - Dog Grooming in Kendal, Cumbria

We are sisters Laura and Anna Dixon, and in the summer of 2019 after nearly 20 years we sold our family business, a bed and breakfast in Ambleside. Our parents retired which left us both looking for something new to take us into the next chapter.

As sisters one of the constant loves in our lives had always been our family dogs. Combining this with our hospitality experience, our love of both shopping and the Kendal high street and our wish to do something together the idea of The Dog House sprung to life.

Laura trained, gaining an OCN qualification in dog grooming as well as City and Guild Levels 2 and 3 in dog grooming all from The Canine Groom School near Clitheroe. Anna spent this time sourcing fabulous products from all kinds of companies with the aim of keeping both dogs and their humans happy.

We hope in The Dog House we have created a warm, friendly and relaxed place for you all to visit time and again!

Grooming
At The Dog House we understand that not all dogs come in small, medium and large so all prices are a “ruff” guide and if in doubt pop in and see Laura for a consultation.

The Full Groom
Bathed, fluff dried, clipped, scissored and styled, hygiene trim, nail trim, ear clean and a finishing spray of doggie pawfume.

The Trim and Tidy
A little touch up between grooms if needed with a bath, fluff dry and trim where required.

The Bath and Blow Dry
Exactly as it says – a bath and fluff dry to keep those knots at bay.

The Hand Strip
For those of a more wirey disposition.

The De-Shed
For those who keep a tighter hold on their fur. A bath, fluff dry, hygiene trim and thorough de-shed.

The Puppy Groom (up to 6 months old)
More of an introductory experience to begin with, gradually moving up to a full groom. We aim to get your pup used to the sounds and smells of the grooming salon in stages to make their grooming life a good one!
