White Cove

White Cove - Dog Friendly Cottage in St Ives, Cornwall

White Cove is a lovely two bed, dog friendly cottage with wonderful sea views in the Downalong area of St Ives, right next to Porthgwidden Beach and the Island carpark. Porthgwidden beach is right outside the front door and down the slipway! You can sit and enjoy your breakfast and the view from the kitchen or living room or nip down to the local café/restaurant to enjoy breakfast and the view from there – or why not take your breakfast to the beach- its so close!

We have holidayed in St. Ives for over thirty years separately as children, then together as a couple and with friends and now as our own family. We love the area with its lovely sandy beaches and beautiful (often wild) views and scenery. We have explored many places and we hope to share these with you through the comments and suggestions left in our guest book and this site.

We have not by any means found it all and we would love it if you could share your suggestions and experiences with us to help us continue to explore Cornwall with all its side streets and country lanes, coffee shops and eateries. We hope you enjoy wandering around St. Ives which is perfect for old legs and new, two legs and four as well as exploring further afield. It’s good to know you can always find a beach out of the wind for those who want to relax (or play) on the sand and in the sea!

The buildings around Beach Court were originally used for storing fish and later as part of the fish processing activities. The buildings were converted into accommodation around 1960 and remain (on the outside at least) largely unchanged.

For us White Cove has been an aspiration finally reached. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Accommodation:
The cottage sleeps four in one double room (with an ensuite toilet, sink and shower room) and one twin room on the ground floor. All linen and towels are provided. All the duvets and pillows are hypoallergenic but feather pillows are available on request. Both bedrooms have space for putting clothes and bags away. There is a travel cot also available on request.

The property has hard wood flooring throughout (both bedrooms are carpeted), which is easy to keep clean with all the sand that comes in, and benefits from central heating. The stairs lead to the open plan first floor space with a kitchen/diner and living room with great sea views where you can watch the sun rise and storms blow in. There is a separate bathroom on this level with a bath, toilet and sink.

The kitchen is well stocked with modern appliances including a washing machine, dishwasher, full size fridge freezer, electric oven, gas hob, microwave, and coffee machine. There is a kitchen table that seats 4-6 people with accompanying chairs and a high chair available on request.

The living room also benefits from comfortable sofas (two and three seaters) digital TV with freeview, a DVD player and a Bluetooth and wireless compatible digital radio. We also supply some board games, DVDs and books for you to use during your stay with wireless internet access throughout. From the living room there is a set of steep, paddle steps which lead to the mezzanine floor/snug where you can continue to enjoy the views.

“One of our best holidays in Location and Accommodation and dog friendly, so much so, that they provide a blanket, large dogs bed and some poopy bags! The accommodation is laid out well and we were so glad that the bedrooms were on the ground floor and the lounge was upstairs, as everybody could sit and enjoy the beautiful view! The accommodation was done with quality and it looked fresh and new. Shower was a little awkward with us all being 6 ft'rs but we managed and it certainly wouldn't put us off booking again, there is also a bath upstairs if needed. It was Poppy heaven for our Cocker Spaniel, large expanse of grass outside and Bamaluz Dog Beach just around the corner in 5 minutes! Porthgwidden Beach virtually just outside our door and Porthmeor 5/10 minutes just around the corner, just wonderful! Only 10/15 minutes walk to the Harbour of St Ives and shops. Rebecca the owner's communication was great from the beginning of the booking until the end. A wonderful Holiday, memories to treasure!”

“I'm writing this review sitting at the kitchen table in White Cove. The day has turned quite mizzly but inside we are warm and content. This is our second visit to White Cove and we will be returning later in the year. It seems that each time I come here I am at doling with book and need to spend time each day hitting the keyboard and creating words. However, it if the perfect place to write as I gaze out to sea for inspiration. Henry, our Polish Lowland Sheepdog, loves the cottage and is at home the minute he walks through the door. We love White Cove so much we may just bolt the doors and refuse to leave!”
