The cottages are a small collection of traditional Cornish stone farm buildings and barns that have been lovingly restored and refurbished to provide luxurious 1 and 2 bedroom self-catering accommodation. The beautiful buildings, set in a tranquil sylvan setting, all have absolutely stunning views down the Camel valley and beyond to Bodmin Moor, a designated international dark sky discovery site, one of only a few in the country and recently voted by the Sunday Times as one of the top 10 places to live in Britain.

Cottages
The cottages have been thoughtfully renovated to an exceptionally high standard in 2018 and include all mod cons including flat screen TVs in all bedrooms, smart TVs in sitting rooms, dishwashers, USB charging points, electric car charging points, secure bicycle storage and free Wi-Fi, plus the obligatory comfy sofas.

The cottages have traditional stone floors in living areas, fully carpeted bedrooms, fully tiled modern bathrooms with power showers and anti mist mirrors. Traditional exposed beams with vaulted ceilings throughout and beautiful oak latch doors, cosy wood burners, brand new fitted kitchens with Bosch appliances and Swan fridge freezers all help blend the traditional character with modern home comforts.

The main bedrooms have quality king size beds with Hypnos mattresses, fitted wardrobes and quality oak furnishings, 2nd bedrooms have high quality zip and link beds making either King size beds or flexible 2’6’’ft twins ideal for both adults and children, again with fitted wardrobes.

All the cottages are just on one single level, ideal for those who find stairs difficult. The cottages are independent of each other but can be booked together for larger family/ friend groups however we don't accept large groups of all the same sex. We welcome dogs in 4 of our cottages. Each of the cottages has its own outdoor space with garden and patio area, most taking in those breathtaking views with just the tranquil sound of birds and the River Camel gurgling in the distance.

For dog lovers
Why leave your faithful friend at home? A selection of our cottages welcome your 4 legged friend. Fantastic local walks, close to dog friendly beaches, the Camel Trail and the freedom of the Moor. In your cottage you will find a cosy blanket and doggie towels to wipe muddy paws and even a little treat on the welcome tray. All cottage grounds are secure with fenced gardens with gates. Please be aware we are surrounded by farmland and livestock so please be mindful of this and other holidaymakers.

Reviews

“We have stayed in Otterbridge Cottage on numerous occasions since Penrose Burden opened in 2018. This is by far the best dog friendly holiday accommodation that we have stayed in!! Jane and Ian have thought of everything for our woofs. Of particular mention are the enclosed, secure gardens attached to each of the dog friendly cottages and the ability to wash them down (outside tap) on return from the beach. Highly recommended - you won't be disappointed. Great for hoomans too.”
