St Anthony Holiday Cottages - Dog Friendly Cottages near Helford, Cornwall
Welcome to St Anthony-in-Meneage, one of the most attractive waterside hamlets on the Cornish coast. Enchanting location on the Helford River, comfortable cottages and unique boating and sailing facilities all combine to make this one of the most sought after holiday destinations in Cornwall.
We hope you will find a property to suit your needs here. We have an amazingly wide choice within this very small and secluded area at the mouth of the Helford River.
These range from a truly luxurious house on the river bank at Helford to some very stylish newly renovated properties around Gillan Creek, a Farm House with associated barn and cottage conversions at St. Anthony and even an authentic showman’s gypsy caravan in an absolutely stunning position on edge of the creek. Pets are welcome in most properties, though we do also have some which are pet-free.
Bring your own boat to Gillan creek, or hire one of our wide range of small craft. We have drying and deep-water moorings, large dinghy and trailer parks and easy launching with a tractor available if needed. Single and double kayaks, as well as rowing boats and paddle boards, are also available and enable access at high water to miles of gorgeous unspoilt river.
Here are a selection of our pet friendly properties...
The Old Boatyard House (sleeps 8)
Built in the 1990s on the site of the old Helford Boatyard, this gorgeous house fronting the Helford River is set on the point separating Penarvon Creek from Helford Creek. Old Boatyard House is one of just a handful of houses with water frontage on the south side of the Helford. The superb living room has dual aspect windows making the most of the stunning position and opens onto a terrace above the lovely gardens which run down to a small stone landing by the river. The dining room also opens onto the terrace and leads back through an arch into the very well-equipped kitchen. The master bedroom has a private balcony, again with stunning views right across the river towards Port Navas Creek. There is an outhaul off the landing for small boats and tenders. Moorings for larger craft are available off the Sailaway pontoon two hundred yards east.
Lantinning Farmhouse (sleeps 8)
Grade II Listed farmhouse situated in a beautiful position in St. Anthony between the church and creek. Our quaint property looks onto the front garden and lawn. The beautifully furnished house has a dining room and spacious living room, making it perfect for a memorable family holiday. The living area comes with a wood burner in an original oak beamed fireplace. Four tastefully furnished bedrooms are available: a double, two twins rooms and a bunk room. A bathroom and shower room are available.
Coastguard Cottage (sleeps 6)
The living room and dining room both provide plenty of space for a family to spread out, while the kitchen looks out over the garden towards St. Mawes. There is a large level lawn with a picnic table where children can play in safety well away from the lane. A wood-burner brings warmth and comfort to out-of-season holidays. The cottage was originally built to house the coastguards who kept watch over the entrance of the Helford River and the southern part of Falmouth Bay. It has spectacular views across the bay towards St. Mawes. Coastguard Cottage is situated only a few yards from Tendera Cottage (sleeps 6) and the pair make an ideal combination for families wishing to holiday together.
The Stables (sleeps 4/6)
The Stables is located literally on the very edge of Gillan Creek and enjoys a superb sheltered south-facing position. The garden furniture on the lawn enables one to sit in privacy behind the low sea wall and enjoy the view over the water. Cars can be parked alongside through the entrance gates.
The spacious living room makes the best of the position with a large window seat. The to and fro of river traffic and the gentle bobbing of boats riding at their moorings all provide continual interest in season whilst during the winter visiting birds enhance the lovely views.
Lantinning Barns (sleeps 2-6)
Comprised of 5 well-equipped holiday lets, converted from the original Lantinning Farm barns. Situated directly across a lane from the beach, these flats are ideally positioned for those who enjoy time on the water.
