Church Cove from cliffs.

Description:Church Cove is a sheltered, picturesque family beach popular for water sports and recreation, the beach is remote compared to other facilities. One of the features is the church located on the edge of the beach.

The coastline around Poldhu is designated as part of the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The area is part of the Baulk Head to Mullion SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest). The SSSI has significant rock types and many of the plants and habitats found here are rare and unique.

Amenities:The beach has a seasonal cafe and car park. Other facilities are available in Mullion including coffee bars, restaurants, shops and board/equipment hire. There is a pub and golf course a short distance from the beach. Toilets are located near the car park and are owned by Cornwall Council, these toilets do not have a specific disabled toilet. Access to the beach for disabled users is possible from the main footpath.

The car park is owned and managed by the National Trust. The facility has over 300 spaces with an additional overflow car park. There are 6 parking spaces for disabled users. Beach access for disabled users is by the main footpath a short walk from the beach and car park.

Dogs:Dog ban in place from Easter day to 1stOctober, 7am-7pm.. However, the beach opposite the caf� is dog friendly all year around (Dollar Cove).

Surfing info:Church cove is a protected beach used for water activities such as body-boarding, swimming and surfing. There is a beach safety sign near the entrance footpath which explains the flag system and gives information on the beach hazards such as: Beware of strong undercurrents. Deep shelving at high tide. Shifting soft sand. Unstable cliffs and falling rocks. Large breaking waves. No kitesurfing. No inflatables.

Lifeguard service:Lifeguards onthis beach from2nd July - 4th September 2011.
