Friends of Cardiff Dogs Home is a support organisation helping Council run Cardiff dog pound promote and re-home their dogs.

Friends of Cardiff Dogs Home are dedicated to raising awareness of Cardiff Dogs Home who take in over 1200 stray/unwanted dogs a year, either reuniting with owners or finding them the best possible home. We promote the dogs through social media on Facebook and twitter and also at events and shows whilst also raising money for our Kennel Fund to improve stray kenneling facilities in Cardiff.

Thinking of getting a dog? Please have a look at the dogs on our forum which are currently at Cardiff Dogs Home.

We are also always keen to hear from anyone who would like to help in other ways, there are lots of different volunteering or partnering opportunities.

“We adopted a dog from here just over a month ago. The staff here are brilliant! They work so hard to make sure the dogs are homed with the right people and to make sure the dogs are well cared for whilst waiting for their forever home. The volunteers who have set up Friends of Cardiff Dogs Home are wonderful too. They work hard to raise money to improve the home and to raise awareness for the dogs. They are a friendly bunch and are happy to chat about any concerns you may have with looking after a dog. I can't rave about the people here enough, they will support you all the way as they genuinely care about the dogs. If you are looking to get a dog, please visit the home before you do anything else. The dogs here usually haven't had the best start to life and they will be so grateful to you if you offer them a home.”

“Friendly staff and volunteers who work hard to promote the dogs and find them suitable forever homes. The volunteers have raised funds and built a fantastic sensory garden in which the dogs can experience off lead play and it can also be used for introductions to possible rehomers. A huge variety of dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds are rehomed through Cardiff Dogs Home. Well worth a visit to the friendly forum, facebook page or the home itself if you are thinking of offering a home to a deserving dog.”

“Cardiff Dogs Home should be the first port of a call for anyone in South Wales (and beyond) looking for a canine companion. We adopted our beautiful Staffy cross, Gus, from CDH almost a year ago now and we would never be without him. The staff at the home are kind, helpful and knowledgeable, they support all potential adopters and the support we received both before and after adoption was gratefully received. They really are a dedicated bunch and we are utterly grateful to them for letting Gus be part of our little family. Go and visit them to see the beautiful dogs that are looking for their forever family you won't be disappointed. ”
