Nene Park is a large area of park land to the west of Peterborough and is the region's favourite place to get outdoors and enjoy nature. It is made up of six different areas: Ferry Meadows, Orton Meadows, Orton Mere, Woodston Reach, Thorpe Meadows and The Rural Estate, made up of parkland, meadows, woodlands and lakes. The River Nene runs through all the areas connecting them together.

Dogs are welcome everywhere within Nene Park and there are some wonderful walks available for you and your four-legged friend to enjoy.

Ferry Meadows offers the chance for dogs to stretch their legs on our meadows, try their paw at the dog agility course, enjoy a woodland walk and even do a spot of shopping at the Visitor Centre, which is dog-friendly and offers a range of pooch products.

Thorpe Meadows and Orton Mere are also great locations to enjoy with your dog.

There are no ‘dogs on leads’ rules in Nene Park, with the exception of at the play areas at Ferry Meadows and the car parks. We do ask that you keep your dog in sight and in close control at all times and do not allow your dog to approach other park users uninvited. We also ask that you keep your dog on the lead near the water's edge during nesting season to avoid the disturbance to wildlife and their young.

The Rural Estate out to the west of Ferry Meadows offers countryside walks and the chance for your dog to take a dip along the river. Please note that we have livestock grazing in this area so it is important to keep your dog on the lead when livestock is near.

Always clean up after your dog, using the correct bins provided and please don't leave your dog unattended in your vehicle on warm days.

To ensure that you, your dog and all visitors can enjoy their visit, please be aware of our Park Code which includes a section on dogs in the Park.
