Medical Detection Dogs

Our Medical Alert Dogs are trained to assist individuals and their families who live with life threatening health conditions. These include diabetes, Addison's disease, allergies, narcolepsy and pain seizures.

With their amazing sense of smell they are taught to identify the odour changes that are associated with these conditions and will alert their owner prior to medical emergencies, get help and fetch any vital medical supplies.

They can even push alarm buttons if needed!

With your help we continue to look at other debilitating and potentially fatal conditions that
our dogs may have the ability to help.

Cancer and Bio-detection Dogs

Our cancer and bio-detection dog team are carrying out studies into whether dogs can detect
a number of cancers from both urine and
breath samples.

Our work will assist in the development of a cost effective, non-invasive and early cancer detection screening system, which GPs will be able to use quickly and easily in their surgeries.
Evidence is now indicating that our dogs could assist in improving the current diagnosis in cancers including lung, bowel, breast and prostate.

Puppies are donated to us from breeders and welfare charities or just because they need a new home. They are chosen for their ability, which allows us to work with different breeds. During their training they live in homes with volunteer puppy socialisers.
