Red Wharf Bay - Dog Friendly Beach in Pentraeth, Anglesey
Red Wharf Bay (Traeth Coch) is an Eldorado for enthusiasts of the natural world, particularly for bird watchers, who can see shelduck, grey plover and red sandpipers, among others.
There is a salt marsh and sand dunes.
Its beach is known as St Davids and sits on the western edge of the bay.
As well as fossil hunting at low tide, you can enjoy the view to Castel Mawr, sitting on its limestone outcrop to the north of the bay.
This is part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and part of the Bwrdd Arthur Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Highly recommended.
