Patch Holidays - Quirky Holiday Home In Snettisham, Norfolk

The Patch is a comfortable, informal holiday home, available all year.  It's close to a lake, and a few minutes walk from a quiet dog friendly beach, where dogs are allowed all year round, except during the nesting season and near the bird reserve, where they need to be on leads. The Patch has off-road parking and a large, private garden, secure enough to contain all but the most determined of dogs (or children!)

Minimum.booking 4 nights, full weeks only in the high season. Please contact us for details and prices.

Hidden inside the house  is an original Victorian railway carriage! This houses two bedrooms  (- one with twin beds, the other with bunks) and also the shower room/toilet.

Upstairs are two further bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed, the other with a single bed and optional adult-sized folding bed.

Located on the edge of The Wash on the North West coast of Norfolk, The Patch is close to the internationally famous RSPB Snettisham nature reserve, featured on BBC TV Countryfile and also the  BBC TV Autumn/Winter/Springwatch series, featuring Wild Ken Hill, a couple of miles away. It lies between Kings Lynn and Hunstanton, and is just a few miles from Sandringham House, the Royal Family’s own ‘holiday home' where they spend Christmas every year.

Anyone looking for a quiet place far from bright lights and traffic is likely to enjoy a stay at The Patch. It’s on the coast between Kings Lynn and Hunstanton, well off the beaten track. A few minutes walk along rough footpaths takes you to the wild, undeveloped Snettisham Beach, and the internationally famous and important RSPB bird and wildlife reserve. With plenty of space both inside and out, The Patch is ideal for any number of people, from just one or two, to a gathering of family or friends for a holiday or a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary party, or even Christmas and New Year.

We offer free WiFi, a big woodburner, a washing machine, bicycles, a barbecue, and many other things to help make your holiday special.

There is plenty of safe space for children (and dogs) to run and play, and experience a wild, natural environment unlike anywhere that most children (or adults, come to that!) are familiar with.

Further afield there are many places of interest and beauty within a few miles – read further for more details and photographs.

The original ‘building’ on this site was a Victorian railway carriage! We believe it was put in place in about 1930, and is still at the heart of the house as it is today.

Garden
Cars can park in the front garden – room for several.

The garden is large, private, mainly laid to lawn, and can be made secure for all but the most determined children and dogs. Parents should note there is a lake directly opposite the gate of The Patch.

Plenty of garden furniture in the shed and garage. Barbecue. In the garage you’ll find several bicycles of varying sizes, great for popping round to the fish and chip shop or small general store (both open from about Easter to the end of October and Friday nights in Winter) or generally exploring the local area. The bikes are old but serviceable and are checked regularly.  Bring your own helmets.

The garden is great for an al fresco breakfast on a summer’s morning, an evening barbecue, or just sitting with a glass of wine on the bench at the front, watching the sun go down over the lake.
