This is The Old Coastguard, a seaside hotel in the fishing village of Mousehole, near the beaches and gardens of West Cornwall, the Minack Theatre and the artists' studios of Newlyn, Penzance and St. Ives.

Fourteen bedrooms, nearly all looking out over glistening Cornish inland waters, with views to St. Michael's Mount and the Lizard. And a dining room and outside terrace sitting atop a tropical garden that slopes down to the harbour wall.

Ever since we came to West Penwith in 2006, we have loved its slowerpace of life, an opportunity for our guests to beat a retreat from everyday 'civilisation'.

We will work hard with our team here to help you relax and unwind, sleeping in comfortable beds and eating simple, well executed food that runs with the rhythms of the season and the coastal landscape.

We want The Coastguard to be at the centre of its local community with beer and drinks prices set for its regular customers, not the incoming tourists.

We are open every day and all year at The Old Coastguard: please do come and visit us and bring along yourfriends, dogs or children.

Food At The Coastguard
The day boats and trawlers of Newlyn tie up just two miles west of here. So you'd rightly expect our menu to have plenty of fish and seafood. It does.

But we don't underestimate the quality of Cornish beef and poultry, game from local estates and cheeses from some of Britain's best dairies.

We have built the reputation of all of our kitchens on the maxim that the best things in life are kept simple. And it's truer than anywhere here in Mousehole.
This is a traditional Brasserie menu that takes good ingredients and gives them a very simple but classic treatment. A menu that changes a little through the seasons.

Dogs At The Coastguard
No supplementary charge for dogs

Dogs are as much a part of a break in this part of the world as their owners and we're happy for them to sleep in the bedrooms here (but not on our beds) and join you in the bar or on the Sun Deck.

If your dog likes to be with you while you eat then do ask when you book. There are plenty of tables in the bar where he or she can lie next to you while you eat.
