Katie Scott-Dyer - Clinical Animal Behaviourist in Bristol

My name is Katie, nice to meet you. Quick bit about me, I'm a fully qualified clinical animal behaviourist and dog trainer with over 17 years of experience. I’m a full member of APBC (Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors) and registered as a clinical animal behaviourist (CAB) with ABTC (Animal Behaviour and Training Council), and a full member of IAABC (International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants), and I’m also a behaviourist for the Dogs Trust.

Why might you be needing a behaviourist?

Some of the common behaviour and training issues I get asked to help dogs and cats with are:

Separation related problems - Frustrations
Aggression to people or conspecifics
Multi pet and multi species households
Excessive barking - Noise sensitivities - Phobias, fears, anxieties
Compulsive behaviours - Cognitive decline
Inappropriate toileting and litterbox issues

What I do?
I work under vet referral to ensure the well being of your pet (with a vet referral, you may be able to claim back my fees from your pet insurance company) and then work with you come up with a plan with you to help you move forward with your pet. Because behaviour is multifaceted, I try to gather as much information as possible to advise you effectively and it may require working collaboratively with your vets and other pet professionals. i work with mostly dogs and cats, because they are the ones people often seek help for but I can and do work with pretty much any pet.

I also work as a behaviourist for one of the largest dog welfare charities in the world, the Dogs Trust, providing online (remote), video and telephone behavioural advice and consultations for hundreds of adopters of rescue and street dogs every week, all over the UK and Northern Ireland, how cool is that! This and my 17+ years in business has afforded me with substantial experience, knowledge and skill.

It gives me warm fuzzy feelings to be able to provide specialist behaviour support to so many people and their pet companions, which is partly why I have dedicated my life to doing so. I don’t, however, specialise in pet photography nor singing but I do attempt both occasionally.

All are conducted in compliance with current government guidelines, laws and the codes of ethics set by my membership organisations, so you know you’re in good hands. I cover Bristol or 30/40 minutes drive in person and the rest of the UK online, let me know your location when you email.
